What are the precautions when purchasing an oil immersed transformer?
Transformers have the characteristics of high voltage, small capacity, large transformation ratio, continuous working time, thick insulation layer, and grounding at one end of the high-voltage winding.
When selecting an oil immersed test transformer, the main considerations are as follows:
1) Select voltage. According to the requirements of the test object, first select a test transformer with appropriate voltage, so that the rated voltage Un on the high-voltage side of the test transformer is higher than the test voltage Us of the test object, that is, Un>Us. Secondly, check whether the low-voltage side voltage required by the test transformer can match with the on-site power supply voltage and Pressure regulator.
2) Select the current. The rated output current In of the test transformer should be greater than the required current Is of the tested object, that is, In>Is. The required current of the test object can be estimated based on its capacitance, Is=Us w Cx, where Cx includes the test object capacitance and additional capacitance.
3) Select capacity. Based on the rated current and rated voltage output of the test transformer, the capacity of the test transformer can be determined, i.e. P=UnIn.
According to national ministerial standards, the voltage levels of test transformers in China include: 5, 10, 25, 35, 50, 100, 150, 300kV, etc; Capacity levels include: 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200kVA, etc.
