8 Daily Maintenance Tasks For Low-voltage Distribution Cabinets

May 10, 2023

8 daily maintenance tasks for low-voltage distribution cabinets:

1. Implement segmented maintenance, first maintain the protection load section. When repairing the capacitor cabinet, first disconnect the main switch of the capacitor, discharge the capacitors one by one with a wire of 10mm or more, then check whether the contactors, capacitor wiring screws, and grounding devices are in good condition, check whether the capacitors are bulging, and use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust inside the cabinet.

2. Stop protecting the load power supply. If the load continues to supply power, disconnect. Load power air switch, place the generator selection switch in the "stop" position, remove the positive and negative battery wires, and tie the "prevent generator power transmission" sign.

3. Check if there is any deformation or black discharge marks at the busbar joint, and tighten the connecting bolts. If the bolts rust, they should be replaced to ensure a tight connection. Check if the insulators on the busbar are loose or damaged.

4. Use the handle to shake down the air main switch from the power distribution cabinet, check if the main contacts have burn marks, check if the fire extinguishing cover is black or damaged, tighten the wiring screws, clean the dust inside the cabinet, and test the mechanical closure.

5. Take out the independent cabinet from the drawer, fix the terminals, check the installation and wiring of current transformers, meters, and kilowatt hour meters, check the flexibility and reliability of the handle operating mechanism, tighten the air inlet and outlet pipelines of the air switch, and clean the dust on the sockets behind the switch cabinet and distribution cabinet.

6. Gradually disconnect the low-voltage side air switch, then disconnect the high-voltage side vacuum circuit breaker that supplies power to the transformer, close the grounding switch, and hang a sign saying "No closing, someone is working".

After the load maintenance is completed, the generator can be started to supply power to it and the mains power can be stopped to maintain the bus section.

8. After maintaining the distribution cabinet according to the requirements of item 3, 4 and 5. Remove the safety device, disconnect the high-voltage side grounding switch, close the vacuum circuit breaker, observe that the transformer is in operation without any errors, and then gradually send power to the low-voltage distribution cabinet, and transfer the power supply of the protective load generator to the urban power supply.
