Ring main unit (RMU) is generally divided into two types: air insulation and SF6 insulation. It is used for breaking load current, breaking short-circuit current, and transformer no-load current, as well as charging current for overhead lines and cable lines at a certain distance. It plays a control and protection role and is an important switchgear for RMU power supply and terminal power supply. In the cabinet, load switches equipped with air insulation mainly include gas production type, compressed air type, and vacuum type. Load switches equipped with SF6 insulation are SF6 type. Due to the SF6 gas being enclosed in the shell, the partition fracture formed by it is not visible. The load switch in the ring main cabinet generally requires three positions, namely cutting off the load, isolating the circuit, and possibly relying on grounding. The gas generation, compressed air, and SF6 load switches are easy to achieve three positions, while the vacuum arc extinguishing chamber can only be disconnected and cannot be isolated. Therefore, a separate switch is usually added to the vacuum load ring network switchgear before the load switch to form an isolation break.

 

The "Five Prevention" of High Voltage Switchgear

1. After the vacuum circuit breaker car inside the high-voltage switchgear is closed in the test position, the car circuit breaker cannot enter the working position. (Prevent load closing) switchgear

2. When the grounding knife in the high-voltage switchgear is in the closed position, the car circuit breaker cannot be closed. (Prevent closing with grounding wire)

3. When the vacuum circuit breaker inside the high-voltage switchgear is closed, the back door of the cabinet is locked with the mechanical device on the grounding knife. (To prevent accidental entry into charged intervals)

4. The vacuum circuit breaker inside the high-voltage switchgear is closed during operation, and the grounding knife cannot be put into operation. (Prevent live hanging of grounding wires)

5. The vacuum circuit breaker inside the high-voltage switchgear cannot exit the working position of the car circuit breaker when it is in operation and closed. (Prevent loaded knife switch)
