As a traditional open type distribution equipment AIS, it is in a mature stage of development in China and has certain manufacturing and operating experience. It relies on air and insulators to insulate the live parts from the ground and from phase to phase. Its busbar is exposed and directly in contact with the air. The circuit breaker can be of the ceramic column or tank type, with the ceramic sleeve as the equipment casing and external insulation. Its characteristic is that the external insulation distance is large and the floor area is large.
The difference between AIS and GIS
1. Different structures
GIS is characterized by a combination of phase separation, three-phase common cylinder, and composite structures in its shell structure. The development of GIS casing from phase separation to three-phase common cylinder has further miniaturized GIS. At present, the international community has achieved the simplification of all 300kV three-phase systems and the integration of 550kV busbar three-phase systems.
The layout of AIS equipment is clear, which is conducive to daily maintenance and repair by relevant personnel. The overall structure is simple, the structural form is clear, and the electrical wiring is clear, which is conducive to operation.
2. Different areas
GIS has the advantages of small footprint, small volume, light weight, and all components are sealed without environmental interference. The operating mechanism has no oiling or gasification, and has high operational reliability. GIS adopts whole block transportation, which is easy to install, short in cycle, and low in installation cost; The maintenance workload is small and the time is short. The box type GIS adopts three-phase mechanical linkage, with a low mechanical failure rate.
AIS equipment covers a wide area and has many exposed components, which are easily affected by weather factors and are not conducive to the safe operation of the equipment.
3. Superior breaking performance
The circuit breaker adopts a self-energy arc extinguishing chamber based on the new arc extinguishing principle (a hybrid structure of self-energy thermal expansion and auxiliary compressed air device), fully utilizing the energy of the arc itself. Gas insulated fully enclosed composite electrical appliances, the electrical appliances inside the enclosure mainly include circuit breakers, isolation switches, grounding switches, busbars, lightning arresters, and other primary equipment. Many switch stations in power plants and substations are made of GIS, which occupies a small area and is easy to maintain. It's still different from high-voltage switchgear.
4. Low loss and noise
The induced magnetic field on the GIS casing is very small, so the eddy current loss is very small, reducing the loss of electrical energy. The use of spring mechanism results in low operating noise. Disadvantages: GIS has the disadvantages of high price, inconvenient installation and testing, poor flexibility, and inconvenient maintenance and expansion.
AIS is relatively cheap, easy to install and test, has good flexibility, and is more convenient for maintenance and expansion.
5. Purpose
GIS performs better than AIS, but due to differences in cost and management capabilities, AIS will not completely exit for a considerable period of time. Use intelligent monitoring and diagnostic tools to extend maintenance cycles and avoid unnecessary work.
