What are those Components of Switchgear?

Jul 21, 2020

Switchgear is mainly composed of switches and protection devices, such as switches, fuses, isolators, circuit breakers, relays, control panels, arresters, current transformers, voltage transformers and various related equipment. Some equipment is designed to operate under normal and abnormal conditions. Some devices are used for switching without sensing failure. During normal operation, the switchgear allows the generator, transmission line, distributor and other electrical equipment to be turned on or off. On the other hand, when any part of the power system fails (for example, a short circuit), a large current flows through the equipment, thereby threatening the damage of the equipment and the interruption of services to customers. However, the switch gear panel will detect the fault and disconnect the abnormal part from the system.
