The working principle of VS1 vacuum circuit breaker

1. Under the action of the operating mechanism, when the dynamic and static contacts are opened, the contacts generate an arc, and the contact surface is volatile under the action of high temperature. Because the contacts are designed in a special shape, a magnetic field is generated when an electric current is passed through. Under the action of the magnetic field, the arc moves rapidly along the tangential direction of the contact surface, and condenses part of the metal magnetic field on the shielding layer. When the arc naturally crosses zero, the dielectric strength of the contacts recovers.

2. Closing process: When the closing coil of the operating mechanism is electrified, the closing iron core is pulled in, the dynamic conductive rod of the vacuum interrupter is moved by the bending arm and the connecting rod, and the circuit breaker is closed.

3. Opening process: When the open coil of the operating mechanism is energized, the opening iron core is pulled in. Under the action of the opening spring, the lock is released, and the circuit breaker is quickly broken.

4. Arc extinguishing process: There is a spiral groove at the dynamic and static contact of the vacuum circuit breaker, so that the transverse magnetic field acts on the axial direction of the arc. When the arc is driven (the large-capacity vacuum circuit breaker is a longitudinal magnetic field), the arc rotates at a high speed and the surface contacts overheat.
