The fire safety of box type substations cannot be ignored
The busbars of box type substations are sealed with insulation materials, and good busbars are sealed busbars. According to regulations, when the height of exposed insulated wires above the ground is greater than 2.3m, a protective device of no less than IP2X level should be installed. The height of the box type substation shall not exceed 2.5m. The equipment inside the box type substation shall be installed compactly and densely, and the distance between other operating protection channels shall be small. It is recommended to use fully enclosed busbar.
The exposed wires of high and low voltage distribution equipment in box type substations should be protected. There are many panels and cabinets in the distribution equipment compartment of the box type substation, many of which are open on the side and back. When someone is involved in protection and operation, protective devices should be installed. Otherwise, due to the small space inside the cabinet, safety hazards can easily lead to safety accidents. Compared to the connection routes between these cabinets, the route layout direction should be equipped with corresponding protection to prevent safety accidents caused by damage. Especially for the box with a long service life, it is easy to cause electric shock, burns, and equipment accidents during operation and inspection.
As a fire protection requirement, it is the fire resistance and flame retardancy of the box material, followed by the resistance of the box to incineration. 1. Some substations use steel and aluminum alloy plates that are fire-resistant, but the filling material in the middle of the steel and aluminum alloy plates often uses insulation materials with poor or no flame retardant effect, which cannot achieve flame retardant effect. The box filling of box type substations should use glass fiber, asbestos, or synthetic materials, but the synthetic materials must meet the requirements in order to conduct flame retardant tests in accordance with Method A of IS01210:1990. Otherwise, it is impossible.
The box body of a box type substation must be tightly sealed inside and outside. According to regulations, it is a first-class fire zone, which must be fire-resistant and strictly enclosed and isolated. There are three weaknesses in the fire protection of some substation distribution rooms: 1. The partition adopts steel plates with a thickness of less than 2mm, and the welding gaps are not tight, which does not meet the fire protection requirements; Secondly, the connecting parts along the bottom or upper part of the box body are not tightly closed. Once a fire occurs along the connection gaps and holes, it will endanger the safety of other equipment; Thirdly, the box of the substation is often made into a 3-corner ridge top, which is waterproof and aesthetically pleasing. Some boxes have large gaps between the partition and top plate, and even some 3-corner ridges are not blocked at all, making them unable to prevent fire
