Description
Meaning of Type

Product Overview
GW4-126 series outdoor AC high-voltage disconnectors are designed for 50Hz power systems with a nominal system voltage of 110kV and an equipment rating of 126kV. They provide circuit isolation under no-load conditions and a clearly visible isolating distance between the energized system and equipment taken out of service.
A pollution-resistant version is available for locations with higher contamination levels, helping reduce the risk of pollution flashover during outdoor service. When an earthing switch is specified, the main disconnector and earthing switch use independent operating mechanisms. A mechanical interlock maintains the correct operating sequence and helps prevent incorrect operation.

Earthing Switch and Interlocking
For the 110kV application, the earthing switch can be configured as Type I or Type II. The Type II earthing switch has peak and short-time withstand performance corresponding to that of the main disconnector. The main disconnector and earthing switch are operated by independent mechanisms, with a mechanical interlock provided to maintain the correct operating sequence.
Typical Applications
Outdoor substations and switchyards in 110kV transmission and distribution systems.
Visible isolation of busbars, circuit breakers, instrument transformers and other high-voltage apparatus during maintenance.
Opening and closing energized circuits under no-load conditions.
Pollution-prone outdoor sites when the pollution-resistant version is selected.

FAQ
1. Why is the product described as 110kV / 126kV?
The nominal system voltage is 110kV, while 126kV is the equipment rating used for the disconnector. Both values are relevant and should be stated clearly in the project specification.
2. Can the GW4-126 interrupt load or fault current?
No. The GW4-126 is a disconnector intended to open or close energized circuits under no-load conditions and to provide visible isolation. Load and fault-current interruption must be performed by the appropriate circuit breaker or switching device.
3. Which rated-current options are available?
The supplied technical data lists 630A, 1250A, 1600A and 2000A options for GW4-126.
4. Is an earthing switch available?
Yes. An earthing switch can be specified, with Type I and Type II arrangements available for the 110kV application. The required configuration should be confirmed at the ordering stage.
5. Is there a version for polluted environments?
Yes. The W-designated pollution-resistant version is intended for locations with higher contamination levels and helps reduce the risk of pollution flashover.
6. Which operating mechanisms can be supplied?
The reference installation arrangement shows the CS17 manual mechanism and the CJ6 motor operating mechanism as configuration options. The selected mechanism and any control-voltage requirement must be stated in the order.
7. What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide the rated current, short-circuit withstand requirement, earthing-switch arrangement, operating mechanism, site conditions, quantity, destination country and applicable project standard.
